The term holistic comes from the Greek word ‘holos’ meaning whole.  Holistic massage aims to restore balance within the body taking into account the persons whole being, not just their physical symptoms.

Holistic Massage is based on Swedish Massage. Swedish Massage combines various techniques including gliding, kneading and cross fibre friction to break up muscle knots called adhesions. It can be slow and gentle or vigorous and bracing depending on what you want to achieve.

What to expect.

Before I start a treatment, I will need to run through some questions and complete a consultation form to ensure you are fit and well enough for a
massage. Once the consultation is complete I will instruct how I would like you to lie on the table.  I will then leave the room while you get
undressed and onto the table, you will be provided with towels to cover yourself. I will not re enter until you are ready.

Before starting the massage, I will wipe your feet with a damp cloth to freshen them up. For  a fully body massage, I will normally start working on your
back, followed by the back of your head and scalp. I will then work on the back of each leg in turn.  You will then be asked to turn over where I will
start working on your chest, neck and face. I will move down to your abdomen followed by each arm and then the front of each leg in turn. Finally I will finish
with your feet.

Every treatment can be tailored to suit your individual needs.

For each area, I will use various techniques, normally starting with effleurage (gliding) which helps to warm and loosen the skin.
During the massage you will be covered with large towels at all times. Only the part being massaged is exposed at any one time.

Benefits of Massage

• Swedish style massage is great for relaxation, besides the calming benefits it is also good for:

• Easing muscle strain by flushing out toxins

• Improving circulation by increasing oxygen flow in the blood

• Helping to keep ligaments and tendons supple

• Stimulating the nervous system

• Reducing emotional and physical stress

A consultation will be required to be carried out and a form completed prior to your first treatment, so please allow a little extra time for your
treatment to finish to account for this time.
